After Thanksgiving is Christmas, so activities this month are centered on the holiday.
This week, we established a rule in the classroom out of necessity. There is no talking about Santa Claus. We had a few students in Group 1 get into a bit of an argument over whether or not he is real. We created the rule to avoid this. There would be some unhappy parents if kids started going home crying about being told Santa isn't real.
The project of the week was creating reindeer cards. We printed the pieces onto cardstock.
I started the class by greeting the students and telling them we were making cards. I explained that we would be using scissors and gave them a brief reminder of scissor safety. Then we let them create the cards! They had so much fun making them and writing messages inside for friends and family. I worked on my classroom management skills and talked with the students about what they were writing. We listened to Christmas music and had a lot of fun. All the groups did well with the project. Those that didn't want to make cards were taught how to make paper snowflakes.
